Co-created as part of the Production & Deisgn Studio class, SA's production of The Woodsman is a unique and moving story told through movement, music, and puppetry. The story draws its primary inspiration from L. Frank Baum's 1918 novel The Tin Woodman of Oz, which provides the foundational backstory for the character of Nick Chopper, the Tin Woodman. This lonely woodsman from the Land of Oz must embark on a harrowing journey to protect the love of his life from her evil guardian, the Wicked Witch of the East.

Eerie, moving, and intimately scaled, this production showcases not only the onstage actors, but also features the work of student puppet artists and puppeteers, our student playwrights and designers, our theatre tech wizards, and our collaborative band. This is a truly student-produced piece of theatre and is not to be missed!
