Center for Community Engagement
The Center for Community Engagement fosters meaningful connections between Sonoma Academy and the wider community. We believe students learn best when they engage with real people, real challenges, and real opportunities to contribute.
The Center for Community Engagement serves as Sonoma Academy's hub for building meaningful connections between students, educators, and community partners. Led by the Director of Experiential Programs and Partnerships and supported by a student-staffulty committee, we work to embed community engagement into the culture of the school and create opportunities for students to learn with and contribute to the world around them.
The Center supports community engagement across Sonoma Academy through signature programming such as the Nonprofit Fair, Community Engagement Day, quarterly school-wide volunteer days, and the sophomore Global Citizenship and Community Engagement course. We also maintain a network of community partners and help students, teachers, advisors, and clubs incorporate meaningful community-based experiences into their work throughout the year.
