  • Boys Lacrosse Opens Season With Thrilling Overtime Victory

    Athletic Department Staff
The boys lacrosse team opened the season last week in exciting fashion when they won in overtime against the visitors from San Rafael High School. From the very first face off it was evident the game would be a close one, and it proved to be just that as the game went into the final moments with Sonoma Academy leading by just one goal. San Rafael mananged to score in the final minute of regulation to tie the score 10-10, and force the sudden victory overtime scenario, where the first team to score wins. The Coyotes controlled the face off in overtime and immedaitely called timeout to draw up the play they wanted to run. Out of the timeout it was Reza Ruel '19 who got the ball and found the back of the net to give the SA boys their first win of the season, 11-10. The boys lacrosse team has played in two more games since the opener, and even though they are battling injuries to key players and a very young roster, the players effort and attitue have been commendable in two losses to San Marin and The Bay School. The Coyotes will play again at Sonoma Academy next Wdnesday when they host Alhambra High School from Martinez at 6:30pm.
