Tiernan Colby ‘23 Captures NCS Championship; Coyotes Compete at State Meet

The Coyotes Cross Country team had a great performance at the NCS Championships, with Tiernan Colby '23 winning the NCS Championship with the third fastest all-time pace in the Division V.

The NCS Division V race included over 175 runners and almost 25 schools in the team competition. Colby's 15:00.6 time was almost ten seconds faster than the second place finisher, setting the tone for the Coyotes Boys team. Coming into the race outside of the top five rankings, the Coyotes rose to the occasion, capturing not only the individual championship, but also a fifth place finish that secured the final qualifying spot for the CIF State Meet the following weekend.

On the Girls side, Athena Ryan '24 finished in 5th place at the NCS Championship with a time of 18:34.9, which qualified her for the State Meet in the Division V race. Although the Coyotes didn't field a full Girls team, Sarah Kam (43rd) and Ally Glenn (50th) ran strong races as well, giving the Coyotes three top 50 finishers in a race with almost 120 runners.

At the State Meet in Fresno, Colby led the Coyotes with a 6th place finish, earning podium honors awarded to the top ten finishers. The Boys team ran well against a quality field of competition, finishing 19th overall. On the girls side Ryan finished 20th overall.

Congratulations to all of the athletes and coaches on a great season!
