Margaux’s days at work are never boring. “I love the variety of tasks I get to do, and all the different people I get to interact with!” she says. As the Associate Director of Advancement for Special Events & Parent Engagement, she is always planning something: parent receptions, SAPA meetings, gala events, and more. As a seasoned Advancement professional who has worked in schools for almost 20 years, Margaux is passionate about fundraising. “It’s really exciting to know that I am part of the engine that keeps us moving forward as a school,” she says. “Education has always been extremely important to me, and I know that we are educating the leaders of tomorrow here.”

Growing up with two parents who were teachers, Margaux always valued education. She is the product of local schools: Santa Rosa High, SRJC, and Sonoma State University. “I’m very proud of the education I received close to home, particularly at the JC,” she says. “It is a fantastic resource for our county, and I had a great experience there.”

When Margaux’s son, Martin, was small, she owned a floral business, which allowed her to spend time at home with him. Her floral work provided experience with event planning and logistics, and helped her develop skills she carried into the Advancement field. “Really, every job I had in the past prepared me for what I do now,” she says.

Margaux worked in Advancement at Ursuline High School for eight years, gaining experience in every aspect of the field: database management, events, alumni relations, parent engagement, and fundraising, eventually becoming the Director of Advancement.

In 2011, Margaux joined the Advancement team at Sonoma Academy. Her son was a junior in high school, and right away, Margaux knew she wanted him to transfer to SA. “I saw what was going on here and thought, he needs to come here! This is where he will find his people! And he had a wonderful two years at SA.”

Over the years, Margaux has been involved in every facet of our Advancement work. Fundraising really lights her fire, because as she says, “it’s a win-win-win. Donors feel great about giving. The school as an institution benefits, and we are able to offer great programs to our students. And the community benefits, because we are educating young people who will truly make the world a better place.” She also loves event planning, because she enjoys creating spaces for people to come together to have fun and feel the magic of doing good together.

When she’s not at work, Margaux enjoys spending some well-earned downtime with her family, her partner, and her two dogs.
