Horton STEM Scholarship

Named in honor of founding STEM teacher Sam Horton, upon his retirement in 2019, the Horton STEM Scholarships provide up to 50% of tuition for students who have demonstrated interest and excellence in the areas of science, technology, engineering, or math. Each year we award up to ten of these scholarships.

Families must demonstrate financial need through our Family Individualized Tuition Plan process.

Students awarded a Horton STEM scholarship must maintain a 3.5 GPA throughout their high school years at Sonoma Academy.

Who is eligible to apply?
All incoming 9th grade students.

What are the criteria?
  • Plan to attend a four-year college or university
  • Have demonstrated outstanding academic performance in middle school by maintaining a grade point average of 3.5 equivalent or higher
  • Have demonstrated financial need by completing a Family Individualized Tuition Plan application
  • Complete the Horton STEM Scholarship application, which you can find in your online admissions application
