Sonoma Academy Therapy Fund

Sonoma Academy Therapy Fund

We have partnered with RAINN, the nation’s largest anti-sexual violence organization, to assist alumni and former students who are survivors of sexual misconduct and related violence during their time at Sonoma Academy with costs related to therapy. Any former student seeking support through this Fund can be assured that RAINN and the third-party claims administrator will not share their name or any other personally identifying details with any Sonoma Academy administrator, board member, or other staff member.

We are committed to providing former students and alumni with reimbursement for up to a maximum of $20,000 per individual, for therapy costs incurred at any time related to sexual misconduct and related violence by any Sonoma Academy personnel, including faculty, staff, or contractors. Sessions must be with a licensed, qualified mental health professional with a Master’s degree or higher.

If any alumni or former students exhaust the $20,000 in funds and need additional therapy, they may petition for further funds through RAINN or the third-party claims administrator, both of whom will anonymize the petitions in order to protect the petitioners’ identities before forwarding those requests to Sonoma Academy for evaluation on a case-by-case basis. An independent, third-party claims administrator will work with RAINN to maintain the confidentiality of the survivors accessing the Fund, review all claims, and process approved payments to therapists or as reimbursement.

All inquiries and financial assistance/reimbursement requests are confidential, and Sonoma Academy will not receive any information about callers to the Hotline.

RAINN will ask callers to provide certain information at intake (e.g., name, date of birth, class year, current address, phone number, email, the name of the alleged perpetrator, dates of the alleged abuse, a brief description of the nature of the alleged abuse).
