  • Sonoma Academy Basketball Teams Win on Senior Night

All four Sonoma Academy basketball teams picked up wins in what was the final regular season home game of the season.

The JV girls started the night off with an important win over Tomales, who was also tied for first place in the league standings. The JV girls lost their final game of the year the next night at Upper Lake by a score of 32-30. Even though the season ended with a loss the girls managed to have a great season and were the co-champions of the league. Congratulations to all the players and coaches on the accomplishment.

The JV boys have played their best basketball in the second half of league play and pulled out another close win against Tomales. On Wednesday at Upper Lake they did it again with a dramatic comeback win, which means they finished the year by winning 5 of their last 6 games.

The varsity girls stayed undefeated in league with the 50-15 Tomales win, but then lost their first game in league play on Wednesday to Upper Lake. They have still guaranteed themselves at least a share of the league title, but with a win on Thursday against Technology they can clinch the league title outright.

The varsity boys played one of their best games of the season and beat Tomales 66-48 behind spectacular play from all 8 of their seniors. They followed that performance up with a 65-32 win at Upper Lake behind a high scoring second half. They have one regular season game left and will apply for the section (NCS) tournament that begins next week (seedings will be released on Sunday).
