The Bowen Siblings Impress at National Level Meets

Athletic Department Staff
Over the past few weeks, Rylee Bowen '18 and Kate Bowen '20 have turned in impressive outings at national level meets across the US.

Rylee bettered her 2017 Empire best of 4:56.32 from the Texas Relays with a 4:48.92 mile, equal to a 1600 in 4:47.25. Watch a video of the race here. Rylee was chosen as the Under Armour/Heart and Sole Redwood Empire Athlete of the Week!

The following week, Rylee ran the 6th fastest mile in the US this year, with a 4.48.44 at the Mt. Sac Relays. She then returned the next day to just miss the Empire record in the 800 with a fourth place finish in 2:11.91.
Only one time in Empire history has a girl gone faster and that was 25 years ago.
It was an Empire junior class record. Click here for a list of the top times in the US.

Meanwhile, freshman Kate ran a very impressive 3200 at Arcadia on April 7, placing 5th in the Rated 3200m. Watch a video of the race here.

Great job Rylee and Kate!
