Studios

Our campus's studio spaces provide room for students to practice the art of design thinking, as they imagine, model, prototype, test, and fine-tune their creations, whether they are battle-ready robots, finely detailed clay vessels, or original podcast productions. A deep knowledge of this process serves students in the studios, in the classroom, and in the world, as they learn to experiment and stay nimble in the face of setbacks.
The Guild & Commons, our newest building, houses state-of-the-art maker spaces fitted with tools for creating, from table saws and sanders to 3D printers and green screens, as well as a teaching kitchen. A variety of academic courses, as well as Intersession and Exploratory opportunities and co-curricular activities, give students the chance to utilize the studios to design, build, and refine.

Fabrication Studio
Fabrication Studio
A large, open space that can be configured as needed, the fabrication studio has a front half, where projects are assembled, and a back half, where the large equipment is stored and where materials may be prepared for fabrication. -
Audio/Visual Production
Students can create and edit podcasts, short films, musical recordings, and video art in our Production Studio, which features a sound booth, sound board, green screen, and editing tools. -
Digital Media
In courses like Digital Filmmaking and Introduction to Coding, students can utilize cutting-edge software tools in the fully equipped Lasseter Media Lab to create at the intersection of art and science. -
Foundation Arts: Fabrication & Visual Thinking
This interdisciplinary visual arts course helps students learn to draw and make the ideas in their mind, with a focus on developing rapid visualization and prototyping skills in the context of solving design problems. -
Ceramics
Ceramics provides an opportunity to be creative learning a very physical, hands-on practice. In Introduction to Ceramics, students are introduced to basic hand-building techniques, throwing on a potter’s wheel, and glazing.
