Lisa has worked as an engineer, mathematician, high school teacher, and karate instructor. Her arrival to Sonoma Academy came as a fluke, after an unexpected turn of events, and as Lisa reflects on that time she says, “I read about the school, read about the kids, and that was it, I was like, I have to work there.” Lisa to this day is so grateful for the chance she took and the opportunity she was presented.

Lisa teaches all of our physics courses as well as our multivariable calculus course. In the fall at the beginning of each new academic year, Lisa looks forward to her interaction with SA’s new students and the opportunity to inspire future scientists and mathematicians. Lisa proudly states, “Bringing my passion for science and math to new people,” is what inspires her to innovate the classroom environment. Lisa is also thankful for Sonoma Academy’s mission to supply the teachers and students with state-of-the-art science materials for the unique lab projects and class demos. One of Lisa’s favorite physics assignments is her legendary Electric House project when students design and build their own homes creating electricity that is used throughout the structure. After weeks of hard work and electrical equipment scattered about Lisa’s classroom, the homes are on display for the school to see.
I read about the school, read about the kids, and that was it, I thought, "I have to work there!"
