Suzanna splits her time between Sonoma Academy and Sonoma State University, but in both institutions, she assists international students as they learn the nuances of the English language. She came to Sonoma Academy shortly after we began hosting students from China, and she has become a critically important source of support in our international program.

When asked what she loves about Sonoma Academy, Suzanna says, “The school expects such a high level of trust among the students,” she says. “Our Honor Code really explains how the philosophy of the community is different than most other high schools.” She enjoys sharing meals with students and staff in the Commons, and she also appreciates the variety of Exploratory classes students can choose from: “there are so many offerings, and it’s all based on personal interest. I love that!”

Suzanna is always on the move: between campuses, between countries, and on the dance floor. She is studying Flamenco dancing, she has traveled to Japan to teach English, and she loves hiking and walking her dog. And true to English teacher form, she says, “I love libraries and shopping in office supply stores!”
