Health & Wellness Teaching Assistants

Seniors are eligible to apply to be teaching assistants in the Health & Wellness Program. This is an important part of the program, as it facilitates dialogue and mentorship between seniors and freshman. Freshman have the benefit of older students' experience and perspective, while seniors gain valuable leadership experience.

The Health & Wellness Teaching Assistant (TA) position is highly sought after. Some years as much as 90% of the junior class apply.

What does a Teaching Assistant do?
Health & Wellness TA's gain some beginning counseling, facilitation, and group-building skills, and they receive up-to-date information on health issues. Those interested in residential life/proctoring programs in college or working with student groups over the summer, will find being a TA to be excellent preparation. TA's serve as a mentors and role models and gain close bonds with their fellow TA's.

What are we looking for in our Teaching Assistants?
  • Trustworthy, open-minded and non-judgmental students who are willing to take risks and have fun.
  • Students who are willing and able to run a group using the Council method.
  • Students who know themselves and who have thought deeply about the challenges of being an adolescent.
  • A sense of humor helps, too!
