Tricia found her way to Sonoma Academy after spending years managing finances for large companies. “At my previous position at a large wine brand, I managed twelve people,” she says, “so our small but mighty team is a great change!” Tricia is happy to be working in an environment where her coworkers are friendly and kind, and there’s always something new to learn.

A fourth-generation San Franciscan, Tricia grew up the youngest of five siblings. Her father was an accountant, and so when Tricia decided to become a CPA as well, she was carrying on a family tradition. She attended a local JC and then UC Berkeley, and although she was on the accountant path, she was also involved in theater. She launched her career in public accounting and went on to work in banking and for a large restaurant chain.

When her two children were small, Tricia spent several years working part-time for the Hanna Boys Center, a school for at-risk boys in Sonoma. Her time there inspired her to seek work in a school setting again, after years in the corporate world. “I found myself wanting to get back to the education world, and to work around youth,” she says. “This position presented itself at just the right time!”

Tricia is impressed with the inclusive culture and deep community she sees here at Sonoma Academy. “I love that the kids are encouraged to explore many different things and discover new passions they might not even know about,” she says. “And I’m carving time out of my day to take a walk at lunchtime and enjoy the beautiful campus.”

When she’s not crunching numbers, Tricia enjoys seeing musical theater productions, hiking, camping, kayaking, and enjoying time with her family.
I love that the kids are encouraged to explore many different things and discover new passions they might not even know about yet.
