We were the first school north of Marin County to offer CIF sanctioned lacrosse, as lacrosse was one of our inaugural sports. Boys and girls from this program have gone on to play at the collegiate level.
The girls lacrosse team won at Cardinal Newman this past Tuesdany night, outlasting the host Cardinals by a score of 7-5. It was Cardinal Newman who came out fast scoring a goal in the first thirty seconds of play. The SA girls responded in a positive way, composing themselves and executing the game plan to take a 3-1 lead in the first half. From there they would lead the rest of the game, holding off the Cardinal Newman rallies and coming out with the two goal victory. The win moves the girls lacrosse team to 3-3 overall and in the mix for a top 4 finish in the very competitive Vine Valley League. The girls will host Rancho Cotate this coming Tuesday at 4pm, then will host league leading Casa Grande on Friday at 4:30pm, before taking time off for spring break. Come out and support the Coyotes this week!
This year's girls lacrosse team showed their talent and experience in their season opeing 16-1 win at The Bay School last week. The Coyotes have 15 upperclassmen on this year's roster, and that combined with some very talented underclassmen sets the stage for what should be an exciting 2019 season. In their second game of the year, which was also the league opener for the newly formed Vine Valley League, the Coyotes fell to league powerhouse Cardinal Newman by a score of 10-6. The SA girls were not discouraged by this result, but instead are looking to bounce back against Justin Siena on Thursday and Petaluma high next Tuesday. Both games will be at Sonoma Academy with start times of 4:30pm.
