Boys Soccer Captures Second Place in NCS

Last Saturday, the Sonoma Academy Varsity Boys soccer team traveled to Head Royce in Oakland to take on College Prep, the top seed in the North Coast Section (NCS), for the Division 2 Fall NCS Championship. The Coyotes were the three seed in this year's tournament and went into the game with two thrilling 1-0 victories in the NCS quarterfinals and semifinals. Both of those games were even the entire way, until the Coyotes found the back of the net with less than ten minutes to go to win 1-0.

The NCS championship against College Prep did not go the Coyotes' way, as they ultimately fell 3-1. The loss does not diminish the tremendous accomplishments the team achieved this season. For the second year in a row, they won a very competitive league and were crowned NCL 2 Champions, and they went on to the NCS championship game for just the second time in Sonoma Academy boys soccer history.

Director of Athletics Chris Ziemer sums it up below:

Congratulations to the boys and coaches on an exciting game and amazing season!  NCS FINALISTS....what a HUGE accomplishment!  We had a great crowd and thank you to all of the families that came to cheer the Coyotes on. Their Athletic Director was shocked by how many SA fans made the journey.  The boys played hard the entire game against a quality opponent.  It was so much fun to watch our team competing in the game that every team dreams about being in at the start of the season...the NCS Championship game!  The weather was great, the venue was unique and intimate with beautiful views, and the game provided plenty of excitement from start to finish. The Coyotes made us proud earning the NCS finalist pennant!
