Intersession Impressions

We’ve just finished 19 years of intersession programs and it was the best one yet (of course, I say that every year and it’s true every year!). When we founded the school we knew we wanted to create a program that was dynamic, experiential, creative, and grabbed teens where they live: in the moment, doing things, connecting with their peers and teachers, having new and revelatory experiences, seeing the world in completely different ways. Intersession was also envisioned as an opportunity to learn in all the myriad ways that occur outside the classroom and outside the normal daily routine.

Though it wasn’t our original intention, we’ve found and continue to experience that this change of routine and focus at this time of year, in between the two semesters, seems to reignite our students’ appetite for learning and engaging with the entire Sonoma Academy experience.

Read Dean of Curriculum Kelly Castañeda’s article for a more in-depth look at this year’s Intersession programs.
