Arts

Sonoma Academy Youth Arts is dedicated to developing intellectual growth, creativity, and the ability for aesthetic appreciation in it students through participation in its vibrant artistic community. The curriculum balances theoretical and historical material with active participation in studio, commitment to ensemble, and learner centered skill-based training that nurtures competent appreciation of the arts, and in cases where students choose, the ability to continue with further specialized training.

This program supports innovation, imagination, and personal growth to thrive on our campus. We make the arts, and the skills inherent to each artistic discipline, an integral part of the cognitive life of our students. As a college preparatory school, we believe that the arts, as they are both experienced and practiced, are irreplaceable instruments of knowledge and an integral part of our culture.

We seek to cultivate a lifelong appreciation for the arts through experience, knowledge, and observation. Our program is currently comprised of three departments: Visual and Media Art, Theatrical Performance, and Choral and Instrumental Music.
