We are a dynamic, coed, college preparatory high school providing a 21st century education to talented students in the North Bay.

Program Highlights
Our curriculum is college preparatory. Our graduation requirements are designed so that students may apply with confidence to any college or university in the country, including the University of California system. Additionally:
  • Electives include high-level courses, including Multivariable Calculus, Genetics & Biotechnology, Historiography and Research, Philosophy & Literature, Advanced Studies in Art History and Comparative Religions, as well as a number of AP, Advanced Studies, and Honors courses.
  • We support our own wireless network, online Learning Management & Communications system called mySA, and technology in each classroom.
  • Our students have the option to pursue a “concentration” (like a college minor) in either environmental leadership or global citizenship.
  • International travel programs are offered each year to places like France, Cuba, Costa Rica, China, Bali, Honduras, the Czech Republic, Japan, Nicaragua, Russia, Spain, and Mexico. As a result of the Passport Program, all Sonoma Academy students receive one free international travel program. Visit the Passport Program page to learn more.
  • Exploratory courses give students a unique opportunity to pursue other interests with minimal out-of-class requirements.
  • We offer an Accelerated Sports Program, designed for highly motivated and talented student-athletes who have aspirations to compete at least at the collegiate level
  • Home sports facilities include a gymnasium that seats 750, a cross-country trail, and both practice and playing fields for soccer and lacrosse.
Accreditation
We are accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) for grades 9-12. The school is a member of the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC) , the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS), and the California Association of Independent Schools (CAIS).
