Learning in the Wild

After years of discussion and planning, Fall 2019 sees the launch of Sonoma Academy’s first formal outdoor education program, Outings. These optional trips, ranging in length from a few hours to several days, will give our students the chance to explore some of California’s most breathtaking natural landmarks and wilderness areas.

Our Outings will provide students with opportunities to connect with the natural world while also fostering the crucial qualities of grit and resilience. In small, mixed-grade groups, students will build camaraderie as they learn new skills together. The trips will provide challenges for both novices and more experienced outdoorspeople.
