David was born and raised in the Bay Area and recently completed his PhD in Anthropology at UC Berkeley. His love of history and the outdoors led him to pursue an educational background and career in archaeology, which took him around the world and to some of the most remote (and beautiful) parts of California, the American West, and Latin America.

David’s teaching experience spans both the traditional and unconventional, including classroom teaching while serving as an instructor in the Anthropology Department at UC Berkeley, developing K-12 curriculum and public education events, directing field schools that provided hands-on learning opportunities for diverse student populations, and working as a bicycle tour guide in Italy. Through these pursuits David fell in love with teaching and sharing in the experience of exploring the mysteries of history and culture as well as the complexities of what it means to be human and part of a society.

In his free time David likes to read, garden, bake bread, mountain bike, kayak, or do anything that gets him outdoors and enjoying the beauty of northern California.
