The Hispanic Chamber of Commerce celebrated its 14th annual trade fair at the Santa Rosa Veterans Memorial building on September 14, 2007. Sonoma Academy had a booth at this event and was reaching out to the community and informing them of the opportunities that Sonoma Academy has to offer.
Participant, Race Equality Week
We had a great time representing SA at the Race Equality Week Festival on Sunday, September 30, where some of our students were filming interviews and events to produce a short documentary. The film, which is being made at the request of the REWF planning committee, will focus on the topic area: “What young people think should happen in Sonoma County to end the cycle of race inequality.” After the final edits are in, it will be broadcast on the community access channel 72.
Students there doing filming were: Ben Nadler, Nick Hughes, Christina Pham, Chris Levesque, Maya Sisneros, Isaac Napell, John Webley, Jessica Gimpel and Corinne Calhoun.
Staffing the booth were Keisha Wilson, Stacey Parker, Stacy Cohen, Janet Durkin, and Alayna Cruz. Stopping by and visiting were: Kelly Castaneda, Ray Wilson and his boys, Irma and Brandon Spars and their children (Irma also played with her Taiko Drumming group), John Durgin (Janet was at another SA event), Maitane Elorza and her husband Garrick, and Nicole Pope.
