Graduation Requirements
Minimum Total Credits: 26
Academic credit is earned by completion of each course
Each of the requirements listed here is the minimum requirement to earn a Sonoma Academy diploma. Colleges look for significantly more depth than the minimum requirement in most disciplines.
Humanities – Four credits of English and three credits of history and social science, including U.S. history
Mathematics – Three credits, including geometry and algebra II
Science – Three credits, including two core lab sciences
World Languages – Completion of a Level III course in at least one language
Arts – Two credits
Physical Education/Athletics – Participation in an interscholastic sport or enrollment in a physical education class during every term of enrollment with the following possible exceptions. Seniors may apply to undertake a project in the arts or community service in lieu of one season of sports or one quarter of PE. Students who participate regularly in an off-campus sport or activity that is not available on campus may apply to have that activity considered an independent study in lieu of an on-campus PE option. The director of athletics, the academic dean, and the registrar must approve all such applications.
